Today, Reverend Vignola spoke about living for rewards in Heaven, not for rewards on Earth. He warned of the seductive power of earthly good fortune, which reminded me of one of my favorite lines from Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s V for Vendetta:
“Happiness is the most insidious prison of all.”
(It’s not the first time Hong Kong has reminded me of V for Vendetta.)
Thank you to the crew of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception – let’s all pray for them, please. As per their February 9th Chancery Notice, the government of Hong Kong has suspended in-person masses because of the severity of the pandemic in Hong Kong. Virtual mass streaming from the cathedral is now not even permitted “to avoid causing misunderstanding that [the celebrants] are breaching the above-mentioned urgent Government measures” – God, por favor, libranos.
Here is the link to this streamed service, for anyone interested in the mass, and of course, for those like me who stand with Hong Kong in any and every way.
