From what I have been privileged to read about Buddhism, the Buddhist school of thought is that human beings can either:
1.) Live to support the lives and happiness of other human beings, or
2.) Live in a state of cyclical existence, trapped in insatiable material pursuits.
From what I have read of human history, I do not believe that the United States of America qualifies as a nation motivated by the lives and happiness of human beings, nearly so much as it qualifies as a nation which is trapped in The Cycle.
