(24″ x 18″, Charcoal and Conte)
This is a charcoal study of a reclining female figure, completed as part of a Figure Drawing class at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The woman is a nude model hired by the university.
When capturing this particular moment, I prioritized capturing the model’s mood. In order to do this, I included small details such as the slope of the model’s brow, turned slightly away, or the fullness of the curves of the her limbs as she relaxed. I also sought to convey a slightly dramatic atmosphere, as is conveyed through the usage of darker, sullen colors.
