(24″ x 18″, Charcoal)
This is a charcoal study of a reclining female figure, completed as part of a Figure Drawing class at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The woman is a nude model hired by the university.
For this piece in particular, I focused on accurately using foreshortening to capture a unique and tricky angle. This effectually captured the relaxed twist between the subject’s shoulders and hips.
I used very careful, deliberate strokes to give an impression of her face, tilted up into the light.
